Why does the media insist that JaMarcus Russell is a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf or Akili Smith
Why does the media insist that JaMarcus Russell is a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf or Akili Smith?
W-L record as starter Akili Smith: 3-14 Ryan Leaf: 4-17 JaMarcus Russell: 7-18 Russell had as many wins as the other two combined and better winning %. Sure Russell was drafted 1st overall, mainly because the talent at QB was very weak at the time. So far the best of that class are Matt Moore and Kevin Kolb, and every single QB signed has yet to play a full NFL season. Imagine last season if Stafford and Sanchez hadn't jumped early, the best QB prospect would have been Josh Freeman, whose style was similar to Russell with a true work ethic. This happened in 2007 and the Raiders, desperate for a QB, took the strongest with the best arm are mechanics. Leaf was taken 2nd behind Manning and they were supposed to have a Jim Kelly vs. Dan Marino or Steve Young vs. Troy Aikman type of rivalry, competing for MVP awards and conference championships. Also San Diego in 1998 was a lot better than Oakland in 2007, San Diego didn't suck, traded up to have the 2nd pick, and just needed a good QB to succeed. Remember SD had the top ranked defense in 1998 and in 1999 went 8-8 with two average QB who were 71 years old combined (Harbaugh and Kramer). Akili Smith was the 3rd pick in 1999 below two QB, usually players taken that early are guaranteed the starting spot but Smith was so bad that he couldn't learn the system. Yes I have seen his stats and COMPARED to the other two, Russell's numbers are slightly better (or not as awful). Contracts change during the years, Ryan Leaf at the moment had the biggest rookie contract ever. @ noscarnage Yes they do, especially when San Diego in 1998 was so much better than Oakland in 2007. @ terry v Agree, most people just see the $28+ millions more than Russell got, without keeping in mind that overall Ryan Leaf was more costly for the Chargers than Russell for the Raiders. After becoming officially the worst team in 2000, in 2001 the Chargers had to trade the 1st overall pick because they couldn't afford him. Fortunately they picked up LT and Drew Brees to get the team back on track. @ Cole Even on that category Russell beats Leaf by a mile. Leaf had a season with 2 TD and 15 Int.

He is called a bigger bust not because he was worse than leaf or smith, it is because of the MASSIVE contract he got. He was expected to be the savior of Oakland and was sure paid like it. He made a significantly larger amount of money than either leaf or smith

wins and losses don't fall on a qb. The reason is his stats they are really bad, second he was the first overall pick in the draft, and finally the money he even held out training camp to get more money.

I have always held the believe that Leaf was the biggest bust because the Chargers traded away their futrue to get him. They gave Arizona 2- #1 picks,a second round pick as well as 2 players to move up one spot! JaMarcus is still a big bust we can all debate how big but lets face it he has to be in the top 5! What would be great would be for JaMarcus to get picked up with another team and go onto win a SuperBowl. Then we can say it was Al Davis and his senile mind that held him back!Yet I doubt that is the case

Most people believe what ever the media tells them. They aren't capable of thinking for themselves. Was Russell a bust? Yes, without a doubt. Was he the biggest bust ever? Sorry, but no. The media just needs something to talk about. If they don't talk about the "biggest bust ever" what news will they have to relay to us? Sitting around waiting to see if Favre's going to go through with the surgery or not. Hardly exciting and breaking news.

Is it possible that, in 1994, Ayrton Senna blacked out half way through tamburello, causing him to crash
Is it possible that, in 1994, Ayrton Senna blacked out half way through tamburello, causing him to crash?
In the 1994 Formula 1 San Marino Grand Prix in Imola, Italy, Ayrton Senna was among many drivers that weekend to have crashed. Unlike the other drivers, unfortunately (aside from one test driver the day before the race), Senna suffered brain death and died shortly after the event. From every angle before his accident, it did not look like his car bottomed out, lost grip, or anything, but instead simply "stopped turning left" through the extremely fast Tamburello left hander. Is it possible that, due to the excessive G-force associated with this 190mph left hander, that Senna actually passed out (which is quite possible when anyone is exposed to high G-force), causing him obviously to loose control of his car and stop turning left. It seems quite possible to me, as his car looked to have simply stopped working. Any ideas? Right, I apologize for understating Roland Ratzenberger's contributions to the sport (I'm rather new to formula-1 actually... after being left in the dark all these years). Obviously since I've missed quite a bit in F1 I'm just looking for some answers to build up my knowledge of the sport.

I think you hit the nail on the head with that description. It seems like a very possible event. Ayrton Seena most likely blacked out while turning left.
2 :
we will never know for sure, but you would think he must have....
3 :
We will never know for sure but computer evidence at the time showed that he was using his foot to brake before he hit the wall. Quite a hard thing to do if you are blacked out. The likely cause was broken steering but again as it was damaged further in the accident we will never know for sure. Only Senna could tell us. However, while Roland Ratzenberger was a rookie driver he was not just some test driver, he was qualifying for the race. He was a talent that was never discovered because he never had a chance. As someone who saw both deaths as they happened I think formula 1 was just too dangerous for the speed and ability of the cars.

Is there a class action against Zerona laser
Is there a class action against Zerona laser?
I spent $2200 for 12 treatments and didn't lose a single inch. This is what Dr. Stephanie M. King responded when I told her it didn't work: We will take you off the schedule good luck in the future. It's very unusual to not see any results with either we have never seen that happen before. I did a quick search for Dr. Stephanie M. King, and it turns out she's a CHIROPRACTOR! Why would anyone go to a chiropractor for weight lose treatment? I also did a search for Zerona laser, and found many, many people calling it a SCAM. Really good rule of thumb: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is too good to be true. A quick, simple way to lose inches from your waist falls into this category. The BEST way to do so is good, old fashion work. Eat healthy and exercise. And that is never been accused of being a scam. In fact, it will probably SAVE you money. You don't need to buy organic food that cost twice what other food cost. Just cut out junk food, sweets, sodas, and other non-essential foods, and eat more fruits and vegetables. Eat 5 or 6 times a day, but very small portions. Only eat until you are no longer hungry, not until you are full. And, most importantly, get out and exercise. Walk, bike, jog for at least 1/2 hour a day, but try to work up to 1 hour a day. Do all this, and you will gradually see your waistline slim down, and you will have a pocketful of money from not spending on get slim fast scams or junk food.

I've been offering the Zerona for a year and have also never had anyone not lose inches. Our average loss is 5 1/2 inches in 9 sessions. $2200 for 12 session is very inexpensive - Most charge that for 6 sessions. No one ever guarantees inches lost - most cosmetic procedures make no guarantees of any type. Sorry this did not work for you, but in my personal experience, it has always worked for my patients. I don't know how long ago your last session was, but most patients continue to lose inches up to two weeks after their last Zerona session.

Can I lose 30 pounds this way before September 1st
Can I lose 30 pounds this way before September 1st?
okay, hi! so, im hoping to lose weight this summer before school starts again in August (but i really want to lose 30 pounds total by September). I haven't started weighing myself yet, but this week i have started a plan to help me get started. So far, I have been eating a simple breakfast of cereal im the morning approximately at 9:00 A.M. As for other meals throughout the day, i need help...i try not to indulge in unhealthy foods or snacks as best i can, but i never know what to eat. my mom has helped me buy fruit that i like so that, instead of chips or something, i can eat that. around 6, my whole family goes on a high paced walk (3.7 miles) around San Marino area (which takes us about 1 1/2 hours). after that, we usually have a fruit salad. so i just want to know what is a good balance of food for lunch and dinner, and if you think my plan will work or not. i really hope to get more healthy over summer, so i want to hear what you have to say :) thanks!

Rather then saying "I want to lose 30 pounds", tell yourself - I want to get healthy and fit. Listen to your body, if you're hungry you should be eating, never starve yourself. When hungry, eat something healthy that will fuel your body because that's what food should be used for. If you feel you've over indulged in food, wait an hour for your body to digest the food and then work out harder then you normally would work out to burn excess caloric intake. If you are eating healthy and exercising, you aren't going to be fat and you should look fit - think of it that way. If you are eating junk or eating too much and not getting enough exercise - your body is going to reflect such. The high paced walk is good. You may want to add some weight training in along with the cardio, it's best to do a combination of both. Also, I'd suggest changing up your exercise routine from day to day so that you don't get bored of it and also so that you can challenge your body because your body will become used to a routine if you do it daily and it won't improve further. For lunch, try salad. Darker lettuce is better for you then iceberg lettuce which has no nutrional value. Avoid croutons and bacon bits. Don't add extra cheese. Instead of creamy dressing, make a healthy home made salsa and use that as a dressing or squeeze lemon or lime juice on top of the salad. For dinner, try salmon or grilled chicken. Good luck

In CA, is there any way to bypass the six month wait to get a license/drive alone for minors with a permit
In CA, is there any way to bypass the six month wait to get a license/drive alone for minors with a permit?
Hi, I'm a 15 year old soon-to-be high school junior living in CA. Because of my young age, I wasn't able to get my learner's permit until this week. I know that minors have to wait 6 months until they're able to get their real licenses, and normally I'd respect this, but as a college-bound junior there are things I want to do currently made unavailable to me because of this 6 month wait. This is very imperative. I have to drive from Ventura County all the way to San Marino every week for an internship, I have a part time job starting soon, and have to get to and from school starting this September. Both my parents work from roughly 7am to 7pm and I have no older siblings, so I can't rely on other people to give me a ride (and at this age, I shouldn't have to). I read in the driver's manual somewhere that special grants are permitted to minors under special circumstances, but it didn't say what specific circumstances exactly or what has to be done to require these grants. I'm not asking for a bona-fide license at 15 exactly, I just want to be lawfully allowed to drive to work and such alone without getting ticketed. If anyone knows about this, it would help me more than you know :)

Clara Leanora (Peggy) Huntington Born to Henry E Huntington DOB 1878-1965?
I have been racking my brains out, trying to find the artist of a Collage Assemblage "Christ Esphagnol" Title; Artist I. Boileau. Exhibited at the American Legion Hall in San Fransico in 1953. Orginol owner Clara Huntington, who lived in San Francisco at the time. I believe she was the artist of this art work. On the back of the frame their is a name Beaux, that I can make out. the other writing is I believe is french. The writing is in pencil and very faint. I have searched the web, and asked alot of questions, still cant find what I'm looking for. Clara, is not the adopted daughter of Collis Huntington and Arnabell Huntington. Clara aka Peggy Huntington, lived in San Marino, San Francisco and Los Gatos California. I would like to know if anyone is familair with her history, and if she had done this Collage of Christ ? Also I would like to know what her art might be worth? I had heard that women artist used different names on their work, maybe Boileau is a surname a family member?

My husband will be working in the woodland Hills (WH) area. What is the avg commute time between WH & La Canada; WH & Palos Verdes Estate; WH & Arcadia; WH & San Marino. Is there public transportation connecting WH from any of these areas? THANX!

Quite frankly, I would not recommend commuting to Woodland Hills from any of those places unless you are willing to sit in traffic for an hour each way. Many people from outside the area do not realize how vast the LA region is or how long it takes to get around. I don't know where you got these places, but you seem to have cherry-picked the richest and most upscale cities in the area. If you are concerned about schools, I can tell you that each school district is very diverse and you can find good schools in most school districts as long as you are in the right place. For example, some parts of Los Angeles have excellent schools (Brentwood, Bel Air, Hollywood Hills, etc.) but you will never find out because their numbers are brought down by the rest of the LAUSD. Regarding public transportation, the main commuter transit in southern California is Metrolink, and the closest station to WH is either Chatsworth or Northridge on the Ventura County line, but both of these are several miles away and you will need to take a bus.

1. Places to live...Calabasas is right next to Woodland Hills; Palos Verde Estates is about 45 miles away on the coast (not recommended); La Canada (pron. can-yada) about 25 mi from WH; San Marino is adjacent to Pasadena while Arcadia is somewhat further out...All of these areas are high end with excellent places to live ($$$$$)...Without knowing for sure, I would rank all of the school districts as very good. 2. Commute times would range between 15 min from Calabasas to sometime tomorrow for RPV to1.5 hrs from La Canada, 2 hrs from Arcadia and S. Marino...Take a gander at the link below. All the best

We'd offer package deals to tiny countries (Andorra, San Marino, Fiji), or to countries colored green on the globe, or we'd organize terrorism tours to the sites of bombings, kidnappings and assassinations. (I used to walk a version of that in Washington on my way to work.) We would call our agency Book in Haste, Repent at Leisure. just aliitle lost if someone can help me i would appreciate it thanks...

I need help with a conclusion paragraph
I need help with a conclusion paragraph?
I am typing an essay on Italians, and need help on the conclusion paragraph. Here is the essay: Italians Italians are warm, welcoming people, who love to relax, celebrate, and socialize with family and friends. Their celebration and relaxation usually takes place around a dinner table at a restaurant or at home, so they can enjoy the traditions of Italian cuisine. Italians have a strong passion for eating, but also enjoy talking. In Italy, conversation is considered an art form. If you were to walk the streets of Italy, or stop at a café, you would notice people of all ages engaged in intense and animated discussions on a wide variety of topics, ranging from family, work, politics, gossip, food, drinks, and sports, especially soccer. From the largest cities, to the most rural of villages, there is one place that will always remain as the central meeting point of Italian culture- the Piazza ( meaning square ). No matter how big or small the Piazza is, you will always see people sitting, strolling, walking, talking, and interacting with one another. Piazzas are also the main focal points for festivals, gatherings, celebrations, and political events. To real Italians, lunch is a 1-2 hour affair with traditionally a two to three course meal, which explains why most places halt for two hours of the day. Stores shut down, banks close, and all of the streets are empty. At around 2 o’clock, people start to emerge from their houses and populate the streets again until around 19:30 when it’s time for dinner. After dinner, the streets come to life again as Italians stroll around the piazza to work off their meal or head off for their evening engagement. Italian food is high in the ranks of most delicious, richest, and most varied of all cooking, with dishes for every occasion. Their food plays a huge role in their life and culture. Every region has their specialty, not only pasta, but all varieties of meat and fish are cooked to old, handed down recipes, mouth watering puddings, and of course, nobody can beat their ice creams. Shopping may not be a national past time, but it is taken very seriously in Italy. The major cities, like Rome, Milan, Florence, are full of the most wonderful shops selling everything from designer clothes to the newest and hippest furniture to be found anywhere in the world. Milan has its furniture fair every year and furniture makers from far and wide will go there to see what is happening at the leading edge of furniture design. Leather is also a good buy in Italy, Italians know their leather and the finest gloves, shoes, jackets, and bags are worn by virtually all Italians. They glory in being chic, and are generally always beautifully turned out. Sports are a very important passion in the lives of many Italians. Football, being their main passion, with hundreds of football clubs with top soccer teams playing for their country. Volleyball is also much enjoyed as is rugby, with the rugby team playing for the European Challenge Cup. Italians place more value on the simple things in life ( family, community, enjoying a Tuscan sunset ) rather than the material things most westerners covet. There are plenty of happy farmers in Italy who want no more than to share a meal with others in their community. The Italian Language is a romance language, spoken as a native language by about 70 million people in Italy, San Marino, and parts of Switzerland, Croatia, Slovenia, and France. Italian is based on the Tuscan dialect, which beforehand was only available to upper class Florentine society. Unlike other romance languages, Italian retains Latin’s contrast between short and long consonants. In particular, among the Romance languages, Italian is the closest to Latin in terms of vocabulary.

rich instead of richest in the paragraph on cooking.
There are plenty of happy farmers in Italy who want no more than to share a meal with others in their community. what is the likeliness of my cousin getting a permit to go to San Marino high school
what is the likeliness of my cousin getting a permit to go to San Marino high school?
My cousin recently asked me if it would be possible for him to attend SMHS in after next year for 9th grade. He lives in Los Angeles and has been in the LAUSD system for years. He's an excellent student and is already thinking about his future. He wants to be able to go to a good high school and eventually college. After seeing me graduate he realized how nice the school is and how education is highly valued. He now wants to apply for a permit. I know and want to encourage him to apply but I'm hesitant on the likeliness of him being accepted. His mother does not work for or in the district. He does not have that adequate of transportation, he can only count on the bus and its pretty much an hr to an hr and a half commute. The one and major thing he has going for himself is his grades. His report cards show a lineup of A's and B's. With this economy, hierarchy and struggle for many- what is the likeliness of him getting a break by getting a release from his district and approval from SMUSD????

San Marino is not looking for transfers from LAUSD and he has no reason to change their mind. He needs to forget it. There are some good Magnet schools in LAUSD have him look for one of those.

Very unlikely your cousin would be admitted to San Marino High. The residents of San Marino pay a lot in taxes and parcel taxes for the school. Sometimes they will allow a student on the boundary (literally, just a few streets) of San Marino, like in San Gabriel, to be granted a permit, *if* they bring something to the school that it needs, like an amazing water polo player, or other athlete they need. If your cousin is an A and B student, he would be eaten alive at San Marino, you should know that. The school has a horrible rep for unfriendly competitiveness, and is not a good fit for kids with any Bs. It's not nearly as rigorous as Poly or Prep, but still. What about a private Catholic school (they are half price of non-religious schools), see if he could qualify for financial aid. It's too late now for Sept 2010, but it doesn't hurt to apply if you find one that is taking applications, or for the next year. Of course, he should apply for a permit to San Marino (you never know), but he cannot expect bus service or any other special services like Special Ed, etc, (excess costs) because that is automatically excludes one from a permit. Here is info for you: http://www.san-marino.k12.ca.us/parents_and_students/enrollment/interdistrict.jsp It is to his advantage, for college, to attend a school he will do very well at. If he's getting Bs at a LAUSD school, he may likely be a B to C student at San Marino. Your first competition for colleges are your classmates, and he's not going to stand out at San Marino, but he might at a less rigorous public school. I know the counselor at SM told one B student (but full of personality, exceptionally likeable) she should only apply to community college, not even Cal State! Very bad advice, her grades were good enough for the UCs, luckily someone else put her in the right direction and she was accepted by some great schools. On the flip, there are 1st ranked kids from public schools who have 4.5 gpas, but only score 1s on their APs and under 1500 on their SATs! (My dh participates in the admissions process for his Ivy alma mater.) Good luck!

Having trim problem I/O 1992 Cobia San Marino 4.3Liter v6 mercruiser--boat question
Having trim problem I/O 1992 Cobia San Marino 4.3Liter v6 mercruiser--boat question?
We just bought a new (used) boat from a private party. It's a 1992 Cobia San Marino with a 4.3 V6 mercruiser I/O motor. This is our first boat. The first day we took it out everything was fine...but when we left, the bilge pump was still running after the boat was on the trailer. At the time I didn't know that they automatically turn on and off as needed so I disconnected the negative terminal on the battery. I connected the battery back up the next day and it was fine. So we took it out yesterday and my uncle drove it from the boat launch to his pier(about a mile). It took him an hour. He said the trim wouldn't work. After about 5-10 minutes I checked the engine compartment....didn't notice that there were two negative wires--I only reconnected one. So I connected it and the trim worked. Now today we took the boat out and everything worked fine-until we got out to the middle of the lake. I adjusted the trim and noticed that it would only intermittently work. Then, the trim gauge was jumping up and down like crazy and the trim stopped working all together. The gauge would still move around but not a sound when I hit the trim button. There are no blown fuses or anything. The rocker switch for the trim is on the throttle control. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me what probably happened. Is it possible that we damaged something by pushing the trim buttons while the negative was disconnected from the battery??? or is it possible that the switch is damaged? I know there are a lot of possibilities when it comes to electrical problems but I'm hoping someone who maybe had this same problem may know. I didn't have tools with me to take the throttle arm apart and check the switch. But anyways, What I'm really hoping is that I didn't damage something on the boat---because the trim was stuck all the way down and we had to drive through some really shallow stuff and the prop was in the muck for at least 100 yards---had no choice. So if anyone can please help me out---it'd be much appreciated. thank you Tom

Hi Tom, I had this exact problem with a volvo penta I/O a few years back. We suspected and replaced the relay box ($130+) only to find that the problem still existed. It turned out that the position sensor in the outdrive had given up, and wasn't allowing the trim to operate. I imagine mercruiser has something similar. Anyway, this sensor measures the actual angle of the outdrive (for the trim gauge), and also keeps you from tilting it up to insane positions and flipping your boat. So when it failed open, the trim wouldn't work at all. The jumping trim gauge really points towards this being the same problem. So here's a really easy way to diagnose it, which came to me in a flash of inspiration about 5 hours too late: Somewhere on the throttle there will be a button that you press while pushing trim up, which lets you tilt the prop all the way up for trailering. This button overrides the sensor in question...so if the trim works while holding this button down, then the tilt sensor or the wiring to it definitely has a problem and you've saved quite a bit of time troubleshooting. If it still doesn't work, then it's time to dig out the voltmeter and an assistant and start probing. Anyway, that's how i diagnosed a very similar problem and hopefully that can save you some time. Also, I highly doubt that you did anything by using the switch without the negative attached. Hopefully all you did was pull a wiring harness slightly loose when reconnecting it, or something minor like that. But odds are great that the really expensive stuff (trim motor + hydraulics) is just fine. So breathe easier. Good luck! Henry.

visas for teaching English in Italy, Switzerland, or San Marino
visas for teaching English in Italy, Switzerland, or San Marino?
Hi, I just graduated with a B.S. in politics and I am wanting to obtain a TEFL certificate and teach English in Italy. It appears that one of (if not the biggest) obstacle I will have to overcome is obtaining a work visa. I hear it is super difficult for an American (or any non EU) passport holder to obtain this type of visa. Has anyone here who is not an EU citizen had any luck in obtaining one? I don't want to waste time and money with a class if I'm gonna get turned down for a visa. Also, if this proves to be a problem, has anyone tried to pursue work in San Marino or the Italian-speaking areas of Switzerland? thanks!

It'll be very difficult to obtain a work permit in these countries. A better option for you is Germany, Czech Republic, or an Eastern European country.

You're right. It will be hard unless you have a passport from an EU member state. Switzerland could be slightly easier as it's not in the EU but you will still require a visa and that means your employer will have to jump through hoops to get you one. In Switzerland EU citizens can get work a lot easier than, say, Americans. Most Americans end up teaching in Asia or Central/South America so there are still plenty of countries to choose from though! :)
